1995 Cobra R - #153. This Cobra R is part of a Ford Executive's private Mustang collection. The vehicle is kept in a climate controlled garage and not driven in the rain. This Cobra R has a very unique history to it as it is #153 which belonged to the late Tom Shreiner, one of the authors of the SVT Mustang Cobra Recognition Guide and the Fox Body Mustang Recognition Guide. This is the actual 95 Cobra R used for the photo's in the original 1993-2000 SVT Cobra Recognition Guide. The Hood is signed by John Coletti, Steve Anderson and Bill Lane, the SVT Founders. The only reason for selling this one from my private collection is because I purchased another one with only 900 miles on it and don't need both. The Cobra R is in great shape and runs fantastic. I have driven it 900 miles since I purchased it from Marcie in 2010, The body is straight with all it's original paint and the interior is just as clean. It shifts as it should and handles just like it came from the factory. The only reason for letting this one go is the purchase of another one with lower mileage.
A little history of the Cobra R: They only made 250 Cobra Rs in 1995. The Cobra Rs had a 5.8L engine which started out from a Ford marine block. Add in the special camshafts, aluminum alloy pistons, forged steel connecting rods, GT-40 heads and lower intake, and a specifically designed upper intake. This engine produced 300 HP and 365 ft. lbs of torque. SVT added in a stronger 5 speed and a 3:27 rear axle. The Cobra Rs were stripped of accessories such as Air Conditioning, radio, rear seat, soundproofing, power windows, and fog lamps. The suspension included Eibach Springs, Koni adjustable shocks, firmer bushings, and 17x9 wheels with 255/45-17 BF Goodrich Comp TAs. Racing items such as the Fiberglass Cobra R hood, 20 gallon fuel cell, and coolers for engine oil and PS fluid were also added. All the 250 Cobra Rs were painted Crystal White with Saddle cloth interiors.
