Truly incredible that our beloved ('lowly' to others...) Mustang GT can now be compared to the best in the world in STOCK condition.... An excellent article and I highly recommend the accompanying videos as well!

The video comparison was very well done. To me the Mustang is the winner at over $25k less than the M3 which yielded according to the driver(s) a bit better shock control in the corners. But the M3 lacked the mid range torque out of the turns the driver was looking for that the Mustang delivered in spades. The M3 was .09 of a second faster in the lap over the Mustang. I say the underdog Mustang was the real winner in the big picture. But of course I am quite biased to begin with . I have already have my sights set on a 2012 5.0. That will give me enough time to make room for it next to my '94 5.0...

I say put a FRPP handling kit and supercharger on the Mustang and say bye-bye M3. Oh, and still have 17k extra in your pocket.

Why not compare the M3 to a Shelby GT 500?? You'd still have a huge chunk of change left over. Of course that article would do nothing to sway someone on this site to buy an M3 over a stang but I bet some potential M3 buyers will soon be 5.0 owners as a result of that article.

Agree!! The M3 is set up for the sports market while the GT is set for every market! So take some of them saved $$$ and pick up a handling pack (FRPP, Saleen, Roush, etc) and try this again! Also add the Brembo braking package ($1,995) to the Stang for even better handling and still come out $20K better than the M3!!!

I think it was a great article. Like others here, I think the Mustang was the clear winner due to price difference. Also I agree about frpp or other suspension upgrades. I know the official anouncement for the Boss 302 came after this article..I am anticpating an updated comparo with the Boss.. and still a huge savings. This is a great time for Mustang enthusiasts ( It was always a great time)
