It's wrong to break up the celebration for the 50th anniversary. You should have it in one place or not have it at all.

I also agree that there should only be one show. Mustangs Across America is not going to do a caravan because of this. I was looking forward to doing it all -- driving across country and going to ONE BIG SHOW. Why didn't members get a chance to vote on this?
This is a big mistake. The 50th comes only one time and there should be only one show.
      Please reconsider.

I hate to seem really critical, but I teach journalism and PR. Your video is too long. It takes too long to get to the point. Just give us the details in print. I waited for what seemed like forever to learn from the video about the two shows. It also is not viewable on an iPad.
But again, please reconsider. There is only one Mustang and only one 50th anniversary. I am afraid two shows will mean each show will suffer. We need one really, really big show, not two smaller and, I am afraid, less successful shows.
If I have a vote as a member since 1976, it is for one show. And for location, I would prefer Detroit. If this is a club and members' opinions matter, let us have some say in this.

In 2014 Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday are the same days as the two shows, this just does not seem right to have the show and celebration on the most Holiest Days for Catholics and Christian Religions.

I wonder if Ford Motor Company even realized this before the put their support behind this event!

even Nascar takes that week off out of respect

Yeah, I this two show idea just comes off as two small shows.. Even worse for me, I happen to live almost dead center between them. Almost 1300 miles either event

Ring a bell--- the day of the greatest marketing blunder in US history until now.
That blunder....the introduction of New Coke.
Coke executives loved the new product...thought they had a winner of an idea...they were wrong.
MCA officials- you think you have a winner of an idea. You thought wrong.

2 events...then space them apart: Fri/Sat in Las Vegas with a caravan heading out Sunday morning for the east and the next weekend show....

2 shows, same weekend...a New Coke of an idea. A bad idea.

I am disappointed about the announcement regarding the two anniversary shows. I know that there is a lot of work involved in pulling this all together and will withhold any further comment on that aspect. After reviewing the information offered, I assumed we would attend the Charlotte venue but then saw that it is the Easter week as previously mentioned by yankee_pony. Since we could not participate in Mustangs Across America for the 45th, we were hoping to hook up with them for the 50th but it looks like that isn't going to happen either. We had an absolute blast in Birmingham and waited 5 years for this. As much as I enjoy the people and cars, family comes first and I will have to take a pass and will be spending Easter with the family at home.

Some of the earlier threads on this topic no longer appear when I signed on this afternoon. Not sure if there is a problem with my system?

      Thanks for your time.

I too am disappointed in the show venues announced by the MCA..... historically this celebration should be in Dearborn, Michigan -- when the baby was concieved and born!!! I understand April is iffy in Michigan, but there should be some type of event in Dearborn... the local club MOCSEM, does a wonderful job with their Mustang Memories car show in August -- always having 600+ cars and doing a wonderful and effecient job during this event. A fourth of July weekend event would be awesome and the weather is certain to be wonderful!!! I would ask the directors of the MCA to consider coming to Dearborn.

      Thank you.

I am really disappointed in the MCA's decision to hold two simultaneous shows in different parts of the country. If you must have two shows, have them a week apart so that we can attend both. Instead we will have two shows that will only have half the significance of 1 big celebration. Attendees and vendors will be forced to choose a location and the much anticipated MAA drive across the country won't be happening. There won't be another 50th anniversary so I sure hope something happens to change this from two not so special events to one big celebration as it should be.

Wow! Lotza complaining... I am looking foward to it too and I really appreciate all of the time and work Ford and MCA have and will be putting into organizing these events. I love Ford Motor Company's decision of allowing the entire country to have a location a little closer to each coast. I wish I could be in two places at once. I also look forward to the summer event in Dearborn since April is a little cold up there.

That is the farthest thing from the truth all the time it has been held out on the east coast nobody said anything like that!

      Hey all

      Big Daddy here

I agree with most of the comments here. If the MCA feels the need for 2 shows then so be it, but move the shows 1 week apart. I too was looking forward to the MAA drive but now will have to wait until the 55th? It would be so nice if the Las Vegas show was one week earlier then the MAA could caravan from west to east in a multi-national caravan. Can you imagine the news coverage for that?! MCA could not pay enough for that kind of coverage. I am sure it would increase the attendance at both of the events as you would have Mustang enthusiasts from all over the world come to Las Vegas for the drive east. Some thing for the MCA to consider. Remember you only get one chance to make a first impression. The 50th will only come once. While, in reality, all anniversaries will only come once the 50th is a SUPER special one as it is a milestone anniversary. Don't become so defensive of your decisions you become stubborn and lose sight of what is important. Your members. Remember, it is your members you were elected to serve, not yourselves.

I would agree that if there must be two shows, which I still believe is a BIG mistake, make them a week apart. But I still strongly believe one Mustang, one 50th anniversary and ONE celebration. 1-1-1.
Maybe Ford will have a 50th and we won't have to worry about this. Think for a minute, can you imagine TWO Woodstocks, TWO launches for the first man on the moon, two totally different models of the Mustang, two manufacturers of the Mustang, two Mustang clubs (one for the east and one for the west), two 50th anniversary models, the list goes on and on. If this is our club, let the members have some say. If you want to make the site convenient for everyone, select something in the middle of the United States.
I cannot imagine how the club is going to staff two shows and afford two shows since I guarantee attendance will be down. Select a central location and have one show.
I am afraid that if the club does not reconsider some members will not renew. That would be a shame.
      1-1-1

Has Ford put their support behind the MCA 50th events? Word on the street has Ford putting on their own 50th anniversary event in July.

I agree with fun1pony. I haven't read anything that indicated that MCA had anything to do with Ford's scheduling of events. Matter of fact, I was with the MCA in Scottsdale, Barrett Jackson, in January. No one with MCA, from Steve Pruitt down had any idea what Ford was planning for this event, the MCA administration seemed to be just an excited as the rest of us to find out where and when the event would be held. Sooo, look at Ford for the frustration. Now, for a personal note. I can celebrate Holy Week and worship God anywhere at any time, knowing full well the importance of this time in our Christian religion. Keeping our Lord in my heart and mind is the most important matter, not where I do it.

However, MCA and Ford seem to be making the same mistake that John Lennon did when he said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. It's a simple matter of consulting a calendar when you plan events, especially when you're planning something two years in the future. Somebody made a big boo-boo with this one.

Now this person I consider to be a true Christian. You do not have to be at home to honor your Christ, God, or diety of belief...churches of every religion exist in every state of the union. The world does not shut down on Easter--celebrate it with new friends..go to a new church while on the road or at the MCA anniversary gathering--explain that you are from out of town and ask to worship with them....in doing so I believe you will have a whole flock of new friends taking you under their wing. Their act will be that of true Chrstians.
