'67 numbers matching coupe

My friend has/had a '67 numbers matching 289 coupe. It caught fire & burned the right rear, the interior & lost all of the glass. The insurance company now owns it & won't let my friend keep it citing liability issues & claim they need to destroy the car. Does anyone know how to prevent this car from being crushed??

It's obvious he got the wrong insurance company. Should've went with a classic car insurance company like Heacock, Grundy,Etc...If they're talking about destoying the Mustang, then he needs to try to talk them about buying the Mustang back from the insurance company "AS IS".....just my thoughts....
