Jeeez, I've been in the club now for a while and the group seems friendly enough on the board but it sounds like you met some of the people in person. I've not done that yet. I may be heading your way soon to Lose e anna (I thought you pronounced it like that) as I have an Aunt that lives in Shreveport and I will be paying her a visit. She's lived there many years. I used to come there for a visit and we would sometimes go to Lake Bistano and go fishing. Very fine place and state. I always wanted to drive to Avery Island and get some tobascco sauce. Glad you joined the club, nice that you have a new car!!!

    hey Bil,
you if you do drive over, let me know, OK.... and if you drive down south to Avery Island please let me know, I just might follow you down there! It's only about 45 minutes from our home.... BUT, BUT, if you need some Tobascco sauce, email me @ rickoos@aol.com and I would be glad to send you some, OK... ;-)
    you take care,

I just figured it would be neat to get the Tobascco sauce right on Avery Island. They have plenty of it otherwise in the grocery store. The only thing keeping me from heading out for Shreveport is the fact that my car is at the dealer while they try and figure out a strange problem I'm having where from about 1/4 of a tank the gauge suddenly drops to empty and the miles to go drops to 3. Needless to say I would rather not take a trip in the car under those circumstances. I would be watching the gauge the whole trip or stopping to fill the car every 1/2 tank which would be a drag. But I WILL let you know when I head out. But I will be going first to see my Aunt who, as I said lives in Shreveport on Erie street and from there I was thinking of going to Avery Island. I've never been there before so have NO idea how far Shreveport is from Avery Island.

One of my pet peeves is that I used to live in Texas and many things are passed off as being from Texas when they aren't. I just despise Texas Pete hot sauce which is made, NOT in Texas, but is made in Winston-Salem North Carolina. For me, if I want hot sauce, I want something a little hotter like Tobascco sauce which is my favorite. I just grew some ghost peppers last summer which are the hottest peppers in the world but I never got the nerve to try one as I don't think I'm up to that level. They were fun to grow though and I was amazed at how big the leaves were. I measured one of the leaves and it measured 14 inches by 10 inches. To me that was huge for a pepper plant but apparently not for the haberno peppers and only a little large for the Ghost pepper.

I'll get back to you when I get ready to head out and will give you my Aunt's phone number and get your phone number from you.

Let's plan on that once you get the car fixed and you get the trip planned out for your auntsa visit.... Avery Island would be about a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive for you from your aunts house..... sad thing is, I have lived here in Lafayette for 11 years and I have never been there either, so it would be a first time for me too! I have always heard good things, but never been there.......
Once the time is right, we'll get together on the plans,

    you take care,

My mom and dad and Aunt apparently went to Avery island one time to see the Tobasco plant but some how they never found it. They said that they kept asking directions and ran all over but finally gave up. So if we go I hope we have better luck. And I have lived close to DC for years but have seen very little of the 'attractions'. I find the Smithsonian a big bore. They can take an interesting subject and put you to sleep with it. And I worked at the Justice Department and one day I got off early so lined up next door for a tour of the archives. I stood in the line for two hours and it never moved so I finally gave up when it got to be my normal quitting time. Actually I think there are two things I would like to see in DC but simply never go. One if the Indian Smithsonian museum and the other is the Air & Space museum located by Dulles airport. But those might turn out to be dull also.

Anyway it should be fun to go to Avery Island. I always wanted to see the Tobasco plant there.

I got an e-mail from the car dealer about the car. Seems that they are still trying to figure out what is going on with the car. They are leaning toward replacing the fuel pump but it sounds like they are guessing. I sure would hate for them to replace the pump and find out on the road that it didn't cure the problem.
