Question Changing the muffler/ sound on a V6

I recently got a 2012 V6 mustang. I wanted to change the exhaust.
I use it as a commuter car and do 80-100 miles a day
I was thinking of putting on a Borla ATAK system but my neighbor said it would always be loud and probably too difficult to have a regular conversation in the car.
He suggested an exhaust that gets louder when you are going faster versus one thats always loud.
Any suggestions would be great as I like loudness but not if it makes talking inside difficult.

    Thanks - Hilton

    Hi Hilton,
I put a corsa exhaust on my 2007 Cal-special it is pretty quiet at idle but it lets you know it is there when you put the pedal down. Corsa did have a web site that had sample recording of exhaust systems on different cars I did not check but they should have something for the V-6 www.corsaperf.com ...

I purchased a new product from Dynomax that has an internal valve in the muffler. It is quiet at idle (the valve is closed, causing the exhaust to run through the muffler) and then makes noise as you get the RPM's higher (the valve opens and becomes more of a straight through muffler). It completely eliminates the drone at cruising speeds or at the torque peak.

I personally would like a little more noise, but I haven't heard a muffler system on a 4.0 that I like. So I am happy with this muffler.

I put a JBA Axleback on one of my V6 Mustangs and a PYPES Axleback on my other V6 and both are great. Nice sound when you take off and they both quiet down a lot when you level off.

DO you have a preference with JBA versus PYPES?

I installed the new Dynomax Ultra Flo Cat-back system ($75 rebate on now also) and really like it. Not too quiet not to loud just right for me. Part # 39507

I went to Carlisle Ford nationals in PA last week and Ford performance part had a booth doing on-site repairs upgrades.
I had the Ford Racing Sport Axle-Back Exhaust installed.
They were charging for parts and no labor charges. A promotion.
Took about an hour to install which was great as I walked around the show.
When I accelerate its a nice throaty sound.
Not loud enough to interrupt talking in the car.
    Love the exhaust
