How to attend the Grand Nationals?

I just purchased a 1966 Fastback and would like to enter it in the Grand Nationals in Sept. But, I have never attended one of these shows before and don't know how they work, as far as logistics.
I would be driving the 66 to the show, so it will be my only available car, at the show. Some questions:
    1) Is the car required to be on display all day?
    2) At the end of the day, the car is removed from the show area and driven back to the hotel?
    3) What is the security at the participating hotels for show cars?
    4) Is there a schedule for when the judging is done? Will I know which day/time my car has to be available for judging? (I don't want to be by my car all day - I want to enjoy the event also.)
    5) Is there some document that I can access that has all this type information? The show Web site doesn't seem to have this information.
    6) Are there shuttle buses to the hotels, in case I want to go to the hotel and let my car on display?

    1) Is the car required to be on display all day? Yes
    2) At the end of the day, the car is removed from the show area and driven back to the hotel? Yes
    3) What is the security at the participating hotels for show cars? Hotel security only
    4) Is there a schedule for when the judging is done? Will I know which day/time my car has to be available for judging? (I don't want to be by my car all day - I want to enjoy the event also.) Judging is done the afternoon of the second day, there is no schedule as to when your car will be judged. Every attempt will be made to have you at your car, but if you cannot be there, most drivers leave their trunks and hoods open and the doors unlocked. If you're not comfortable with this, then you will need to remain with your car on the day of judging.
    5) Is there some document that I can access that has all this type information? The show Web site doesn't seem to have this information. If you have questions that I have not answered, feel free to contact the host club.
    6) Are there shuttle buses to the hotels, in case I want to go to the hotel and let my car on display? Normally there are no shuttles from the show site to the hotels.

Hopefully this will answer your questions.
Trust me, I drive a Mustang!

    1) Yes, unless it is an emergency
    2) It depends on the show location. Many will let you leave your car overnight if you wish. Usually they have local police for security overnight. which is better than the hotel security
    3) What probkauz said
    4) What probkauz said although if you do leave your car, you will be able to tell if you car has been judged when you return by looking at your dash card. Usually the judge will put a sticker on it or initial it once it has been judged.
    5) What probkauz said
    6) It depends. I have been to many national shows where they did offer shuttle to the show. Feel free to contact the hotel and ask if it doesn't mention it on the host website.

Congrats on acquiring your fastback, I would highly recommend attending the grand national if you can. You will have a blast!

"Judging is done the afternoon of the second day"
So, for the Grand Nationals, in Sept - that would be Saturday afternoon, right?

Correct, although a small handful of cars may not get judged until Sunday morning.

    1) Is the car required to be on display all day?
The car is required to be on the show field all day.
    2) At the end of the day, the car is removed from the show area and driven back to the hotel?
The car can be driven back to your hotel or you can leave it on the show field. There will be a shuttle bus that will be going to the hotels during the day.
    3) What is the security at the participating hotels for show cars?
There will be security at the show field (Maryland State Troopers).
    4) Is there a schedule for when the judging is done? Will I know which day/time my car has to be available for judging? (I don't want to be by my car all day - I want to enjoy the event also.)
Judging will start on the second day of the event and you will have to have your trunk, hoods windows rolled up and convertable tops up. Being with the car is not neassary but recommend when it is judged.
    5) Is there some document that I can access that has all this type information? The show Web site doesn't seem to have this information.
The website www.monumentsandmustangs.org is updated daily and I would check back with it often to get the latest information. If your question is not answered on the website then please e-mail me with your question at ccaldwell@ncrmc.org
    6) Are there shuttle buses to the hotels, in case I want to go to the hotel and let my car on display?
There will be shuttle buses from the show site to the hotels.
