Stuck in 2nd

Hi all - new to the forum. Have a 1964 1/2 convertible, 4 speed manual that is stuck in 2nd. I'm not too good on diagnosing problems but ok at following directions if I'm told what to do. Already replaced the components where the shift attachs to the transmission - no benefit. Shifter still seems to have "alot" of play in it eventhough it's in gear. Depressing clutch disengages the gears...but still can't shift. ideas/thoughts? thanks.

sounds like you still have a shifter problem. contact this fellow. he is the best.

Synchronizer gears? Had a car that would shift when the car was off, but couldn't get it out of gear when it was on, turned out to be synchronizer gears.

thanks to both. Have a call into Bill and will take a look at the synchronizing gears. Mine won't shift - started or not.
