Judging sheet

The two and a half week delay explains most of it but that wasn't information that most of were made aware of. I have talked to a couple of people who received theirs already and they had sent their SASE after I did. I have been to five or six MCA shows and always got my sheet in less than two weeks. I hope you all can understand my frustration as my sheet still has not arrived from the Jacksonville show.

    Rick,
The 2 1/2 week delay was for the NY show. I spoke to Kristie and she comfirmed what she told you in that your judging sheet was mailed. There is absolutely no reason to think she didn't mail it. If you don't recieve it I'm afraid our stellar Postal Service may have struck again. I wish there was some recourse in that event but unfortunately I know of none. Hopefully it will still show up.

    Rick,
I had the National Judging Secretary pull the results from her data base for your class at the Jacksonville Show. First of all as I'm sure you know, judging the new cars if a very difficult task since these cars are so close in condition and cleanliness. In MCA National Show classes where the cars are competing against other cars (as is the case in the SPD class) the cars with the least points deducted are the 1st, 2nd, and 3th place winners. Additionally, when determining 1st place winners, if the top scoring cars are within 3 points of each other it is considered a tie and they all are awarded 1st place awards. For it to be considered a tie for 2nd and 3rd place the scores must be exactly the same points.

At Jacksonville in the SPD class there was a 5 way tie for 1st place. These cars scored +1, +1, 0, -1, & -2. The 2nd place car had -3 and there was a 2 way tie for 3rd place with -4 each. The data base shows your score as -10. I do hope you received your judging sheet so you can review the areas where you lost points and correct it. If not I hope the explaination of where you stood in the scoring helps explain why you did not place. Incidentially, there were four other cars that lost less points than you but more that those that placed and did not receive awards either.

Hi Steve, I apologize for highjacking this thread, but I had a general question concerning your explanation of the 1st place tie and "3 point spread". I was under the impression that the 3 point spread would have been +1, 0, -1, and not including -2.

    No, the 3 point spread is 3 points and not 2 as your example indicates. Example +1 to 0 = 1 pt, 0 to -1 = 1 pt, -1 to -2 = 1 pt. 1+1+1=3.
The point spread between 1 and 3 is 3-1=2. If I had 3 cars and their scores were +1, +2, and +3 the spread between the highest and lowest is only 2 points. In 20 years of attending MCA National Shows, to the best of my knowledge this is the way it as always been applied and according to the document furnished me by the Judging Secretary was the way it was applied in Jacksonville.

    Russ,

Steve is correct in the figures.

Steve, I never did receive my sheet. I did have a message between myself and Sandy who judged my car and told her that I didn't expect to place on the show since I had just traded my 07 GT (that i had bought new) for the Shelby a couple weeks before the show and hadn't had the time to get the car into the shape I thought it should be to place. I had already sent my envelope in at that point and really just wanted to get a good starting point from there with the areas that I might not had thought to look at. At this point I can only guess where I lost the points.

Hello i found this thread while looking for an answer to a question i posted in Ask MCA. I'm trying to find out if there has ever been a independent financial audit of the MCA. if so can members get a copy? I have been waitin for copies of judging sheets since Sept 8th. I've learned that our club with over 11,000 members and annual dues collected of more then 600,000.00 (11,000X50.00 ) only has a staff of 1 person in it's National Headquarters, and that person seems to be extremely busy, and not able to do things like make copies of requested judging sheets in the event the post offices loses them. (which from reading these posts happens a lot). I'm curious as to where all the money goes? Hope you can help. Thanks

I am currently in the MCA Regional Directors summit and our National Board of Directors meeting is tomorrow. I know our Treasurer Ron Bramlett is here and has brought all information to our meeting to provide full visibility of where our funds go. I will bring this up to our Executive Officers today and someone will respond to you offline. Now, that said... as administrator of the site I will not allow people to start what I feel is unhealthy discussion for the organization on the forums as it opens the doors for all kinds of conjecture that is not based on full knowledge of the operations of the club. I will post an update to this after the BOD meeting tomorrow. In the meantime I would appreciate no more posts on this topic until then. Any further posts on the topic will be removed.

Thanks and stay tuned for an update.

I thought I would provide a quick update. I talked to Steve Prewitt about this and he has added it to the agenda for the meeting tomorrow. Will post up more info after the meeting
