which Carb better for 289 ? Edelbrock 600 cfm or Holley 600 cfm

I am in a process of rebuilding my 289 with mild cam and hei distributor, and can not decide which Carb is better Holley VS Edelbrock both are 600 cfm... Again I am only a weekend cruiser....I do not know too much about mechanic. Talk to different mechanics, however end results are confuses .....3 said Holley and 2 said Edelbrock.... Thanks for all the advice ..........

I have a Edelbrock 600 4bl. no problems at all. All I had to do was change the linkage. And if you keep your foot out of it you still get good gas mileage. But when you need it really kicks in.

The edelbrock with electric choke will give you plenty of trouble free cruising. In my experience, the holleys require periodic adjusting to maintain optimum performance.

A word of caution though, the 600 cfm may be too much carb for your engine with a mild cam (OEM was ~450cfm). If that proves to be the case then the edlebrock is simple and inexpensive to re-jet and meter, but you may want to consider a 500 cfm.

I agree with Phil, I also have an Edelbrock carb. I was running a 600 cfm and then did an engine upgrade to a complete Edelbrock package, heads, intake , roller cam and carb (750cfm). Holley makes a great carb but they do require alittle more maintanance to keep them running at their best.
