Exclamation Need some tips on club cruises...

I'm looking for some tips, help, suggestions etc. on how to properly have a point to point club "cruise".
ie: how to keep everybody together, road rules etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

One very big tip is to know the route you are going and provide a map for every car. Have a drivers meeting before you go to hand these out and explain some of the areas where you could get separated. No panic if that happens, no riding bumpers and safety info in general. I know there are more tips to come your way from others but those were the ones that popped into my head.

Thanks for the tip... I would like to have some cruises for our local club.. Some of us went on a cruise with another club last night and it was a disaster! The biggest problem being I couldn't tell if it was a "cruise" or a "drag race"
The people leading the cruise kept disappearing over the horizon!

That's not good. A good cruise is where you can check out the scenery while you are driving. The leaders should really not break any speed limits which will let others catch up if they get caught by a traffic light or other things that can separate you.

I agree... this was my first cruise and I was very disappointed...
I'll never go again with that club...

It also helps if there is some form of communication between the lead car and the caboose, it could be cell phones or hand held radios. The caboose should be someone familiar with the route. If it is a long duration cruise, have predetermined stops along the way for everyone to have a chance to catch up.

I have been in several "Conga" lines with my Grabber Orange brothers and sisters and everything previously mentioned was employed.

One thing different is we all have FRS radios...everyone!!
From Chicago to Harrisburg,PA., thru the turnpike, with 20+mustangs, and no problems with loosing anyone or knowing why we are all pulling over...

    Here's an FRS radio...

I personally think the radios are the key to our success and making the drive less stressful for all the drivers.
