I am trying like crazy to get my concourse trailered class '69 Mach 1 finished before the Gran National. But, it looks like my gauge vendor fell asleep at the wheel and may be the reason I will not be in attendance. Before I start driving my Mustang, I would like to have it judged at an official show and presumably get a "gold" award for it.
My question is: Can you get "gold" awards at national shows (not gran national) and does it carry as much weight. Secondly, how do you find out where the national shows are held, and is there a schedule for next year?

Sorry for the mis-spelling. I am relieved to hear that all of the national show awards/judging are of equal significance. As with most of you, I'm sure, a Mustang is a toy as well as an investment. It is no secret that a Gold award in the concourse will add value to your car, which is why I would like to make it to a show before I start to wear the "new" off. I have heard that next year's Grand National is in Oklahoma (if that's right). I surely do not want to drive that far.
Thanks for the response.
Ever if it is not all way ready, but safe and driveable, The best judges in the country will be in attendance and there advice is priceless.
And it is not far away for you and it will be the largest show until OKC next year, I bet.
carlite65, I believe you are incorrect. The weight is not the same. - Make the search engine your friend.
Here's the "weight" when applying for a grill medallion:
Gold (1st Place) = 2 Points
Silver (2nd Place) = 1 Point
Grand National Shows:
Gold (1st Place) = 3 Points
Silver (2nd Place) = 2 Points

"and does it carry as much weight."
+1 for those in the know . Of course owners often want to imply more out of any ward they receive. the "
To most (if your looking at the impact of an award on the future value of a vehicle) IMHO the medallion is not as important as the award level (gold, silver, bronze), what year it was awarded and even who was on the judging team.
Personally I'm not sure if we can agree on the "investment" part but that is between you and your tax consultant
