when i load my 91 sedan i use axle straps around the front lower control arms. then attach my ratchet tiedowns. for the rear i use axle straps making sure they are under the brake lines. ratchet straps again but crossed before hooking up to floor plate tiedowns. hope this helps.

It is good practice to "cross" the tie downs @ one end to minimize side forces. Also when you ratchet, do so evenly. You will know you have it right when there is almost no rebound when pressing on the corners of the car.

I think the ones around the rear axle are the most important at least to me. I am not going to accelerate fast enough in my trailer for my car to slide backward but if someone pulls out in front of me I would sure stopped fast enough that it might get thrown forward. I also put wrap a couple of old towels around the hooks so they don't scratch anything under there when I tighten it all down. I do strap down the front also.

    Just my 2 cents worth.
