I have a 79 Cobra (5.0) and we replaced the engine with a 88 HO one. Had terrible vibration. Finally replaced the flywheel with an HO one and no more vibration (original C-4 trans)
I have a friend who is just putting the finishing touches on 1987 .
He is having a terrible time with vibrations, 5.0 eng / C-4 trans , sitting still.
The engine runs perfect without the torque converter, (third one).
Attach the torque converter and will shake your teeth.
Any ideas?? I will gather more info and post it but I thot
someone may have experienced this before.
Thanx, Dave
Pix are of my two 1961 Olds, I am too old to start a Mustang project
so I enjoy my friends who have them.

How did you get it runing with out the TQ installed? There are a couple of possable items that can cause what you are seeing. Does this happen in Park or only the driving gears? Will the car move under power?

Thanx for the help.
I did some research and found that you cannot use the OEM flexplates with an internally balanced engine.
The 28 or 50 weight throws it out of balance.
We ordered the B&M # 50246 - 10 1/2 " flexplate made especially for balanced engines with the
C-4 tranny
Thanx again, Dave
