help fellow mustangers this is a problem that has bugged me since i bought the car i have changed the fuel filter like suggested in earleier post but my 88 lx 5.0 convertable is still running like it souldent the guy that owned it before me was a chevy guy so he kind of didnt know what he was doing when he tried to fix it because he got it from a friend of his not running so when i said i would buy it off of him he bought a junkyard distributor and cap and installed it just so he could get it running for me i have bought new injectors, filter, and plenom gasket and it still pops and puts out black smoke at the tail pipes. i will accept advise from anyone that can

typical causes for black smoke could be, a defective or misadjusted throttle body, leaking fuel injector or excessive fuel-pump pressure, also the popping could be that the timing is out.
