So since the show in your back yard is 15 dollars more you are staying home.
Could anyone tell me why each national show has a different registration fee?
1. Gulf Coast Mustang Nationals - $50.00 with a $10.00 member's discount
2. MUSTANG SHOWDOWN AT THE RED ROCK CORRAL - $60.00 with a $10.00 member's discount
3. Golden Gate Mustang Nationals - $55.00 with a $5.00 early bird disc. (5/1/12) No member's disc.
4. Ocean State Mustang Nationals - $70.00 with a $10.00 member's disc. & $5.00 early bird (1/1/12)
5. OK Corral MCA Grand Nationals - $50.00 with no discounts
Since all nationals are run the same the fees should be set by M.C.A. not the host club. My wife & I were planning to attend the Ocean State National in R.I. but due to the fact that this is the most expensive show we have decided to not attend more out of principal than affordability.

Like I stated in my post we are not attending more out of principal than affordability. We can certainly afford the extra $15 but why is this show more expensive than any of the other nationals? The Ocean State Nationals are being held in a hotel parking lot so it's not like they have to pay a fee to use the property like you would if it was held at a state park or a private venue. I could maybe understand the high fee if it was the Grand Nationals because it's the Grand Nationals but even then all shows are run the same so the registration fees should be the same. M.C.A. wonders why more members don't attend these shows and this is one reason why!
I understand your concerns. The MCA can not dictate to the host clubs the cost of entry in to there events because there are many different factors that detirmine the cost of the event like the number of cars expected, cost of the venue, the amount of sponcership, the cost of the awards and the goal set for a charitable donation. Most clubs donate most of the proffet of a show to a worthy charity so the prices are not driven by greed. I hope you will reconsider and join yor friends at the show. Besides how far will you get on $15 of gas! Marty
Marty, I don't see where the number of expected cars have anything to do with reg. fees. As for the cost of the venue, it's being held in a hotel parking lot where most everyone attending is paying to stay. After looking at the impressive list of sponsors (Ford, Tasca Ford, Mustangs Unlimited etc) I doubt there will be any expenses not paid (including the trophies). The only item left is charitable donations which I always support. I just feel that in these economic times where people are having to tighten their belts that this extra $15.00 is out of line. You don't see any of the other clubs putting on a national show charging that much.
I'm really not interested in what the other national clubs charge for their shows only the ones put on by M.C.A.! No one can give me a valid reason for why MCCNE is charging more than any of the other clubs that are hosting a national "mustang" show.
Jeff, giving your position in M.C.A. I find your comment & implied attitude rather disturbing. The club has been asking for ways to attract more members (and hopefully new members) to the national shows. The message I got from your comment "Hope you find something enjoyable to do with your family that weekend - Life is all about choices" was that if I didn't like the cost that I should find something else to do that weekend. If this is the attitude of the club then maybe I should spend that weekend reconsidering my future with M.C.A.?
At $70 we get to give our charity a larger contribution. If you look at the discounts the other clubs are offering and compare our discount we are in the same price range. If you had taken advantage of the discount for registering prior to December 31 you could have registered for $50.00 with the MCA discount.
Sorry you feel that way. Our pricing is no different that Ford pricing their cars Each dealer gets to set their own price. I would hope you would reconsider for your sake.

George, Thanks for responding to my post. While I understand the club's desire to donate as much as they can to a good cause, given the current state of the country (economy, gas prices etc.) charging more than any other club isn't a smart idea. Myself along with many others would be more inclined to attend your show @ a more reasonable rate ($40.00 / $50.00) and then possibly donating more at the show. As for your math, $70.00 - $10.00 MCA discount, - $5.00 early reg discount = $55.00 not the $40.00 - $50.00 that the other clubs are charging for their shows.
I certainly don't see your comparision between buying a car from a dealership and going to a natinal show?? As for "reconsidering for my sake", I don't understand this comment but myself and approx. 12 other Mustang owners are going to get together that weekend and have our own fun (for less money) instead of sitting around in a parking lot!
Unfortunately, this is just one of the reasons many Mustang owners in New England have quit or won't join MCCNE. Good luck with your show.
Just to clarify a few points,
Looking at most shows over the past year and a half with all discounts available the average price is $49.28. The Ocean State show with all discounts is $50. This includes the early bird discounts. Some shows do not have a early bird discount and some shows require pre-registration prior to the show.
Looking at it in that perspective MCCNE is charging approximately the same with discounts figured in. The statement, on there is no cost to the club for the sight because it is at the host hotel is not completely accurate. When the contract was signed with the hotel, we had a very large usage fee in the thousands, for the field if we did not almost fill our room block. Our room block is about 75% of a very large Crown Plaza. Also as we all know security costs, permits and general costs of operation a show in the north east tends to be much more costly. If we did not fill the hotels requirements the show would be a loss to MCCNE and no monies other than our charity drives would of went to the Shriners Burns Hospitals for children. I hope you understand the cost on putting on a show is much more costly then Des Moines or Mustang Oklahoma. In fact the show in New York last year started off before discounts at $75.
I hope you understand MCCNE and MCA are non profit and each year this hard working dedicated volunteers try to do their best to make the shows affordable and fun, without bankrupting the club.
Hope you reconsider, and be part of the fun event,

P.S. Nice 65 2+2, think I have seen your car many times in the past, hope to see you again.
