"Typically, three out of the last four years," etc., those are not firm dates and places.

Is my point that hard to understand? These are NOT firm dates and places. Why can't firm dates and places be set before someone runs for the board?

That is my question. I understand that these are the places and times the board USUALLY meets. I get it. I just don't think it is good enough.

No one has answered why emails, Skype, etc. can't sometimes substitute for so many meetings.

Stan I am going to ask that we keep this thread on topic. The meeting process is what it is at least for today. If you feel it needs to be changed the bring it up to the president or someone on the BOD to discuss as a topic in the next meeting. I will be happy to do that for you if you like since I also feel that we could do some of this remotely. I work in virtual teams all the time and have conference calls 6 hours a day. However, continuing to press this on the forums is not productive and is off topic from what this thread is supposed to be about.

I agree. I, like other members, am opposed to two shows for the 50th. Instead of just complaining, I was willing to consider becoming more involved. But with the system as it is, I cannot commit. My schedule is not that flexible and I will not commit without knowing I can do what I promised.
I am just hopeful that the club will do what it can to encourage member input and make it as easy as possible for members to serve on the board, if they so desire.
I will cease my comments on this. Hopefully my point has been made.

I have read with great interest and some amusement the responses to this topic. Like everything in politics there are two sides, evenly split and both are probably wrong. I will have to take sides with the MCA BOD and agree that two venues may be the best solution to a problem that has no single correct answer.
I believe along with the handful of posters that Easter may be observed away from home. The week of Easter has other advantages in that many school districts are off that week and that may allow some famlies to consider a trip like this. The comments about NASCAR may be true but that doesn't stop them from racing on any other Sunday.
As far as the vendors go, The larger companies should be able to support and staff two events. Sure they may have to lease a truck or rent a tent. Have some signs and banners made and they should do quite well. The smaller vendors will have to evaluate their marketing plan and pick a location that best supports their customer base.
For those of you who have isues with the way MCA business is conducted, let your Local Club President or Regional Director know how you feel. They should be the ones to carry the message the the MCA national organization. That is not to say the MCA does not welcome an individual members comments. I was once in the US Navy and every old sailor knows, a B*#@hing sailor is a happy sailor.
Finally for those of you who are not members of a local club, use this web site to locate and contact a club in your area. Even if it's still a little far from your home, I'm sure the club would love to hear from you and put you on a contact list. Even if you have some gripes they are still a good point of contact.

Let's Have One Show in Charlotte

Having 2 shows and getting yourselves involved in what has been well run and organized cruises has caused the likes of Sam and Mustangs Across America from wanting put on a cruise for the 50th Anniversary. The MAA cruise to the 45th in Birmingham had close to 500 cars a large percentage of the cars registered. My Dad always said if it isn't broke don't fix it, well it wasn't even close to being broke. You may get some different people showing up by having a show in Vegas, not for the right reason..THE MUSTANG but to go gamble on the strip....Vegas is NOT the setting for a car show... IF you are going to have 2 shows have the one in Vegas one week earlier so people can do both. I personally would like to see one show and that is in CAR COUNTRY Charlotte N.C.

I've been to many car shows in las vegas and went for the cars--not for gambling. They like cars out there too. There is even a place there called Shelby automobiles.

The location of the shows are a good choice but the choice to have 2 shows is bad.... Still cant be in 2 places at once and wont be able to see all the VIP"s, Vendors, etc etc.... Most Vendors are not going to be able to go to both shows and unless there is some kind of cloning device neither are the VIP's... I was just at Stage 3 Motorsports, the largest Roush Parts dealer in the US, We are helping set up the Jack Roush Day in November and they have not even been asked yet to attend any show....

50th Celebration Should be inclusive on BOTH coasts!!!!

I am sure Ford marketing was involved in this decision....And the idea to have the Celebration so the maximum number of Mustang enthusiasts on both coasts could attend is a good idea. In these tough economic times, a lot of people can't afford to take expensive road trips to get to events these days, with the corresponding lodging costs.... Some people only think of themselves and doing things at their convenience....This is an important National event, and it should be conducted on a truly National scare, in my opinion

I think folks can make a point without attacking people. Vegas is very convenient, it's only a few hours away for us here in AZ. With less than 10% of the membership of the MCA here on this forum, we dont even have an accurate census of what everyone is thinking. I know for one thing...This whole thing has divided the club. I guess I am a bit selfish, in the fact that I really wanted us ALL to be together to celebrate this event...
