I more than agree that breaking the event into two different events is the biggest mistake that the MCA can make, at a time when the Mustang is gaining followers worldwide who have been anxiously awaiting the next "Mustangs Across America" tour, which I was privileged to have taken part in, and was myself very much looking forward to the "50th". We had attendees from around the world who went to the time and expense to either ship their own car here, or rent a mustang specifically for the event...Are we going to take that privilege away from them now?....I would Hope that MCA and Ford rethink this disastrous idea.

WE had a poker run yesterday and had 50 Mustangs on the run. There were club members from 3 big clubs here in Phoenix. I thought maybe I'm wrong so lets bring it up at the first stop. Not one person in the group thought that breaking the event up was a good idea. I was shocked.. not one person raised their hand in favor of the duel shows....

Not the point at all. BUt I understand what your saying...
If there was one show it would be more central and not slammed on either side of the country. I understand that being close to one of them is good for some but its a mistake to break up the family. I live close to Vegas and would love to go to Charlotte but are they going to be exactly the same with boths shows having exactly the same displays, vendors, exhibits??? Dont think so. Timing is another question for families with school agendas.
3 day drive there, 3 days there? 3 day drive back home. Thats alot of school to miss. It the 50th Anniversary not just another MCA Show.....

This act is splitting MCA and the international Mustang world, not bringing it together.

    1. Ford Racing has 1 show trailer that it takes around the country- which show does it go to?
    2. Roush has 1 show trailer that it takes around the country- which show does it go to?
    3. Shelby has 1 show tralier.................
    4. MRT- Mustang Racing Technologies established by Scott Hoag of Team Mustang has 1 display set up- which show gets it?
    5. There is only 1 1964 1/2 Mustang-first off the assembly line- which show gets it?
    6. There is only 1 1962 Mustang Concept car - which show gets it?

    1-1-1

That's the only decision that makes any sense.

One Mustang, one 50th celebration, one location.

If we want to split things up, we could have several Mustang clubs. I am not for that. That would not make any more sense than two shows. We need one celebration at one location to honor the one Mustang. Period.

Those who truly want to go to a real major celebration- will find a way. But they just need 1 event location to plan and save for.

1 MCA Board Member wants to grow MCA towards the west to make it a true National Club. He is a very kind man with a good heart who wants what is best for MCA. Until he steps forward I will leave his name out of the discussion (but how many MCA Board Members come from California and organized a video introduction to the 50th announcement) he believes a West celebration show is important for MCA growth... just as the President of Coca Cola did when he came up with the New Coke idea, and how did that turn out. Ron convinced the President of MCA to join his dream and those 2 sole individuals drove this decision. These are kind, intellient people who simply want to do the right thing for MCA but have made a miscalculation and in fact are doing the reverse. This act is splitting MCA and the internaitonal Mustang world, not bringing it together.

    ... I guess I'm in the minority ...

I applaud MCA's courage in stepping outside the box to try to make the Mustang's 50th birthday accessible to as many people as possible. Having driven cross country for the 40th and 45th celebrations, I am especially looking forward to having a venue closer to home - within driving distance for my '66 hardtop - so it can participate instead of its newer stable mates.

It's sad that the organizers of previous driving events have chosen not to participate in the celebration in 2014. I see it as an opportunity for someone else to put something together and I hope that someone does.

I see so many obstacles identified in the previous posts and, while they are all valid, they represent a set of decision points for those who choose to participate in the celebration, including the choice of which city to visit.

Thanks MCA - I look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas in 2014!

The Prewitt has spoken. Newest issue of Mustang Times.

All of you (me included) who have issued negative opinions as to the concept for 2 shows are:

"voiced by a few very opinionated individuals".

And thus obvioulsy no need for them to respond on this thread as the opinions stated herein do not mean a thing to them.

Yup, they will never even think about asking the club to vote. They are in control and thats all that matters. I just hope that Ford steps up and an event that is prestigious enough for the 50th...
