Come on MCA Involve the Membership
I refrained from posting on this thread until I read the June issue of Mustang Times. I was irritated by some of Steve Prewittís comments in the Driverís Seat editorial and other comments from Austin Craig in the News & Notes column. I have the greatest respect for both of these gentlemen but I donít think either one took a positive approach in their columns. I think they both lost a great opportunity to start a positive hard sell on the 50th. I believe the more information made available, the more people begin to tune in to whatís coming. Lack of detail tends to fuel the flaming thatís taking place in many of the posts on this forum. Personally, I favor one location for the 50th but to my mind, thatís not the biggest issue. The big issue is lack of information. People need to make plans and less than two years on the lead time calendar isnít very much. Travel plans, financial plans, plans that some will make regarding volunteer work at the show venues, vacation plans for those that need time off from work, and on and on. Not to mention banquet plans, speaker plans, vendor plans, driving event plans, Mustang display plans, plans and designs for show accessories, the same for trophies, and, again, on and on. Understandably, many things arenít firmed-up yet but the more time passes, the harder itíll be to put the celebrations together. And with two venues to coordinate, it would seem a more complex and time consuming job compared to focusing on just one venue. Come on MCA, start putting some of those things out there so folks can start making plans. Solicit help and comments. Involve the membership. And how about letting the Mustang community at large know about the 50th (i.e., non-MCA members). Then periodically refresh their memories so they remember to attend.
