There's a video on the home page of MCA, here's the link below but if it doesn't work for some reason just click on the home button & the announcement in on there...

Would be really cool if it was on two weekends instead of one. Everyone could go to Vegas, then caravan to NC for the following weekend. Its pretty hard to be in two places at once, so I doubt the west coast people like Shelby Inc and Mustangs Plus will be able to go to NC. Seems to me it will be two half shows instead of one big show. Will Ford send a full contingent to both shows? Probably turn into the Vegas Shelby show and the NC Ford/NASCAR show.

I really wish the MCA membership had been consulted. Even if it had turned out exactly the same, at least everyone would get a chance to influence the decision.

There is one thing that really confuses me. For the past year, the MCA has been saying that Ford would decide where the 50th was going to be held. Now we're told that MCA is going to have two events in April and Ford will have their own event in July.

Did Ford pull out of supporting the MCA 50th anniversary events?

I noticed that as well. Very good question!

    Thumbs down 50th Anniversary event

My biggest disappointment is there will not be a Mustangs Across America drive because it is now broken into two events. I started planning for that event 2 years ago. In the past I was not in a position financially, to do it and now that I have the money it isnt going to happen. If there is Ford event to celebrate happening later in Detroit and they can have a MAA event for that I will probably skip the MCA events and go for that one.

    50th Anniversary Folly

    I must register a protest.

The decision to hold two shows for the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang is a huge mistake and a slap in the face to many, many members of the MCA.

How dare you dilute this historic event!

Your actions have said to your dues paying membership that we do not count . . . only what someone in the ivory tower, who has lost touch with the needs, wants and desires of the membership . . . only (his/her) ideas count. Wonder how much ($$) they got for thier vote?

I would like to see the list of how each member of the Board of Directors voted on this "wet dream". I can guarantee that they will not get my vote the next time they run for office. (If I am still a member of this southern, east coast group of idiots)

What will happen is one show will be "the event" and the other show will be the "ugly stepchild". Any guess as to which one is which? My bet is those who choose to go to Vegas will get shortchanged - big time.

How are you going to get all the vendors that would be at one event, in these tough economic times, to staff and display to two different shows?

How are you going to get all the dignitaries who usually attend a MCA "Birthday" show to attend two different shows at the same time? You think getting the VP at one show while the other show gets the president will suffice . . . think again!

How are you going to get all of the MCA Elected officials to attend both events at the same time, so your dues paying membership can interact with each of them? If you think that only sending a few to each show will suffice, think again. Here you go again telling the membership that they do not count . . . you only want thier money!

You have created a logistics nightmare . . . for what purpose?

I can only assume that somewhere, somehow, someone is getting paid under the table to dilute the most historic event in Mustang history.

You think that people only go to a "Birthday Show" for the judging . . . well you're wrong. Some of us go for the event, we go to participate in a drive with other Mustangs, go to see friends from all over the country, and the world, whom we only see once every 5 years. Now if some go to Vegas, and others go to Charolette, we, your dues paying membership, lose out in seeing everyone.

It is still not to late to take your head out of the sand, and revisit this stupid decision. You can do the right thing and vote to change and only do one show or you can continue to travel down the two show road and end up pissing off a mahority of your membership, perhaps looseing members along the way, and when its over have a much weakened, ineffective club of few members.

The choice is in your hands, and the time to act is limited.

If you look at this forum, you will see that Doug and I agree about almost nothing.....until now. MCA directors,, you can fix this. There is still time to change this terrible decision.

I just cant believe this is happening, who in the world comes up with this? I understand trying to appease the east/west coasters but now you have a watered down celebration.. The Corvette 50th was where they build the Vette and it was awesome. It should have been pushed off to summer and in Dearborn period. So many families with children now will not be able to make this. I understand the birthday being relevant but celebrate the 50th with everyone at one place!!! The MCA has given us cool aid and the Mustang deserves champagne for its 50th Birthday.....
