YES
NO
I'm from California. I'll do as I did with the 40th and 45th--heading east, 2500 miles. Up to Chicago and then route 66 home.
Sorry, Mustang history in a sun baked parking lot in Las Vegas just doesn't work for me....
Rolling green hills of the south--totally improved setting.
In terms of attendance-- it will be 5+ to 1 in Charlotte. MCA just isn't fully developed in California/Nevada. Growing but it has a long way to go -- the huge crowds (1200 + Mustangs) that go to the Knotts Show each year will likely will stay in LA and do Knotts the weekend before* (the vast majority are not MCA members) and will not pay the surcharges Las Vegas Hotels charge on weekends in April.
I see 1500 cars (max) in Las Vegas and upwards of 8,000-10,000 in Charlotte (vehicles, not people).
*The Ford Clubs that put on the Fabulous Fords event at Knotts are not going to take the Las Vegas Show as a friendly move- It costs them very serious money to get Knotts to cut lose with that much space..they will plan their show for the Sunday before the Las Vegas MCA Show....and that will hurt attendance the following weekend. Even as crazy as Southern California is (not a major religious capitol of the world) they never hold the Knotts Show on Easter Sunday. I first considered the Easter Sunday issue to be minor--I no longer do.

NOT when you pick a date that conflicts with the biggest Ford/Mustang Show on the west coast (Fabulous Fords at Knotts)...sad to say it is a huge pot stirrer within the Southern California Ford Clubs not love. They recently have been having Ford vs Mustang issues as some "clubs" have concern about too many Mustangs dominating the show.
And many west coasters do not like Las Vegas as a vacation spot and many will simply not take their kids there. For many years Las Vegas Casinos tried for the family approach--MGM had its own amusement park etc. The casinos didn't like the return on investment as a "family" vacation spot when they had high room rental rates but greatly decreased gaming income and went back to a more traditional line up of drinking, topless shows and gambling. Although there has been some push back with the big shows...Lion King, Jersey Boys etc It is just a tough draw for a family based car show crowd.
Las Vegas has (or had last time I checked) a very active Mustang Club that works very hard at shows--advertises all over the west coast....they draw about 75-100 cars to a show because of their remote location. Everyone thinks Los Angeles and Las Vegas are neighbors when it fact they are over 250 miles apart. Depending upon where you are in LA make that closer to 300 miles. Great LV Club group- but a tough location outside of their immediate local audience. The number of availableMCA member owned Mustangs 250 miles from Charlotte is huge in comparison to the number of Mustangs and MCA members 250 miles from Las Vegas (or probably even LA). It is just a different world.
I have attended many of the Las Vegas Mustang Shows and have even put together caravans from Northern California to attend and guess what... there have been times when I deilvered more people from Northern California as a group then arrived from Southern California on their own. Not the fault in any way, shape or form of the Las Vegas Mustang folks--just their location and the size of the surrounding population.

Vegas has Mustang Club of Las Vegas and Vegas Valley Mustang Club. Matt and I joined Vegas Valley Mustang Club this past winter and am very impressed with the club.
Good Clubs and great people in both. Have attended many of their shows- they work hard at them (560 mile drive, one way for me)- and when they can secure Fremont Street for a show, just a killer location, especially under the lights...just a remote location issue for huge crowds.
Interesting that the vote remains roughly two-thirds in favor of two show venues, one-third opposed, even as the number of voters increases to 92 at this point. Makes me wonder if it would be similar with a few thousand voting. Probably so. With less than 100 casting votes so far, it suggests that not too many MCA members use the forum. Hmmm.
i think they should have one show in Mustang Oklahoma, the center of the country.
Well I guess MCA will do the 2 show thing but folks keep July 4 2014 open..... Just got a tweet about Fords Plan....
So you can go to the closest MCA bash then... We shall see what transpires......
This is the big one Goose!
Your comments about Jim Silverman & the B.O.D. are out of line! I've been a member of M.C.A. for over 30 yrs and these volunteers put in a lot time & energy to run this club. They may not make the popular decision every time but they all try to do their best for the club AND its members. I for one like the 2 show plan, though maybe having it on different weekends would be better. Living in New England would make it tough to go to a show in the middle of the country or on the west coast.
As for you club's plans to quit M.C.A. when your membership expires, if you're that unhappy then the childish thing to do is quit. If you really want to be an adult about this then get involved and run for office in M.C.A.!! Being a former B.O.D. of the Mustang Car Club of New England and many local/regional car shows I have found that there are a lot of belly-achers but not many who want to get involved.
