Using transport wrap

I'll be hauling my 73 Mach back to the area at the end on June. It will be on an open trailer and i've been considering using a transport wrap (the white stuff you sometimes see on new cars) to help protect it from bugs and stones. It's going to have clear coat applied this weekend. Anyone have experience using this material?....any thoughts on using it on 3 week old clear coat?
