This question has been asked since the announcement was made and the current news update doesn't mention this issue at all. Problems don't go away when you ignore them.

As for your "leaps and bounds" comment - This club is stagnating because we cater to the "over 40" crowd with 60's era Mustangs who trailer their cars to events and like to sit in the sun with their car all day. We don't have enough events for folks who actively USE their cars, whether it's a rally, cruise, autocross, HPDE, or racing and we don't spend equal time (to the trailer queen set) promoting the "active use" enthusiasts. Now, I know that time is a finite commodity, so what this means is the club should spend a lot less time on issues pertaining to the vintage Mustang show crowd so that there is more time to spend to attract the new blood who are younger, tend to drive newer Mustangs, and who consider themselves "active use" enthusiasts. When you concentrate most of your efforts on a relatively fixed demographic and treat the rest like an afterthought, well then don't be surprised when your membership numbers are stagnant.
Apparently you don't read your Mustang Times? The Club Magazine really caters to the trailer concours members. Not!!!

    Bob,

If you are going to argue with me at least pay attention. I said "the club", not "the club magazine". And BTW, the "activity" events covered in the club magazine are usually events held by entities other than MCA (Boss 302 track event, Shelby track events, Pony Drive, etc)

The Mustang Times is the voice of the MCA. Like I said previously pay attention to Times articles and editorials and there is no way you can claim club bias to 1st generation owners.

Reading the update on the front page it appears that the decision has been made and our voices are the "Few" that dis-agree with the decision to have 2 shows... How can we possibly make plans to attend any show when the Dignitaries have not been announced.. I'm planning on Dearborn on the 4th of July....

    Bob,

Mustang Times is not seen by anyone outside of current MCA members. If you want to attract new, younger members then you have to hold events that will attract that demographic and bring that new blood into the club. It's simple marketing strategy.

Neither -- I think it would have been more appropriate to have the celebration at the New York World's Fair site - where the Mustang was revealed. Then I would have gone.

Very good point! More driving events associated with the shows, has anyone here ever been to the Rocky Mountain Round up in Steamboat??? Autocross, mountain cruise, burger burn, and of course location but its the whole package that brings people to clubs and events... We do several cruises a year and people love them!

Try as I might, I just cannot keep quiet on this subject, especially if I feel I am being wronged.

I note that there are two polls on this forum regarding the 50th clelbration. One poll asks what you think of the idea of two shows. 58% are in favor with 41% feeling like it is a bad idea. Another poll asks which show you will go to . . . 62% say Charoltte with less than 25% planning on Vegas. While those responding are nearly even on good idea or bad idea, the club membership clearly plans on supporting the show in Charoltte.

Regarding the Concord show . . . I did not approach anyone regarding the MCA plans for 2014. However, I was approached by many, many people who voiced concern over the current MCA plans for the 50th and questioned how and what could be done for them to voice thier frustration and concern. I was amazed by the number of people who approached me with this concern!

I read, several times, Ron's recent comments about the 50th anniversary celebration, the thought behind it and the current stage of planning stage for the even.

I know for a fact that not all BOD members are in agreement with the two show idea.
I know for a fact that many MCA support staff do not agree with the two show concept.
I know for a fact that not all vendors are in for both shows.
I know for a fact that there are many, many MCA members (not all of them MAA alumni) who are not in agreement with the 2 show idea.

When I read Ron's recent posting regarding planning for 2 shows I realized that no one in the MCA leadership cares what the membership thinks, and no one is listening to what the membership is saying. The membership doesn't exist . . . it's all about what Ron, Steve and a few other misguided fools want to do with our dues moneys and that includes plans being finalized to spend lots of money on a stupid idea. The two show plans are moving forward!

They are trying to make you drink the Kool Aid by selling you on this grand idea of many Pony Trails meeting up in Mustang Oklahoma and going in mass to what ever show you choose to go to. (Looks like everyone is going to Charlotte) Hell . . . we've gone that far, so do the **** show in Mustang!

Well . . . if I go to a 50th celebration, I am not making the boring drive all the way to Mustang (for the 4th time) just to turn around and go back to ugly Las Vegas. If I go, I will go, (along with most everyone else), to Charlotte. (In reality, if FORD does a show in Dearborn in July, thats where I will go).

It was also obvious to me in reading Rons latest that MCA really does cater to those living in the East and those who own early edition Mustangs who trailer. Always been that way so why should it change?

This organization is more autocratic and dictatorial the the U S Government. I am insulted by thier lack of consideration to those who feel that the organizers are making a grave, financial mistake - a mistake that may cost the MCA many thousands of dollars.

I predict a big dues increase in your future!
