Agree that the stats are a very small sampling, but the 29k registered users is kind of misleading. From what I understand, a dump of MCA membership numbers that were active within the past x-amount of years was done and created the bulk of these "registered users." If you look at the bottom of the forum page, it shows that about 1,200 members have been "active" on the website. Not sure exactly how that stat is calculated, but it most likely is a more true number of how many MCA members have logged into the site. If that number is more in line with reality, then we have about 10% of MCA members using the website, which is somewhat disappointing.

I'm not positive about this but I think a user is considered active if they have either used ( or maybe viewed if they are a registered member ) the site within a specific time...like 30 days.

There are certain things that are just stupid. I don't need to hit my head with a hammer and see if it hurts just to prove that I have "an open mind to the possibilities" that it might not hurt. Many folks have asked how two events at the same time will not result in 1/2 the vendors going to one event and 1/2 going to the other (or worse - most vendors going to one event and the other event gets screwed). This question has been asked since the announcement was made and the current news update doesn't mention this issue at all. Problems don't go away when you ignore them.

As for your "leaps and bounds" comment - This club is stagnating because we cater to the "over 40" crowd with 60's era Mustangs who trailer their cars to events and like to sit in the sun with their car all day. We don't have enough events for folks who actively USE their cars, whether it's a rally, cruise, autocross, HPDE, or racing and we don't spend equal time (to the trailer queen set) promoting the "active use" enthusiasts. Now, I know that time is a finite commodity, so what this means is the club should spend a lot less time on issues pertaining to the vintage Mustang show crowd so that there is more time to spend to attract the new blood who are younger, tend to drive newer Mustangs, and who consider themselves "active use" enthusiasts. When you concentrate most of your efforts on a relatively fixed demographic and treat the rest like an afterthought, well then don't be surprised when your membership numbers are stagnant.

I have to agree with you ! For me its all about the drive and not the destination ! In 2009 I drove more than a thousand miles to the RMMR in Colorado and didn't attend the show. Why would i want to sit around for a whole day when I could be driving one of my beloved Mustangs around beautiful Colorado ? Car shows are OK for a few hours but after that they're just boring in general. There are some good events that I like such as Mustangs at the Queen Mary or Ponies by the Sea in Oxnard Ca.

So you get the same people voting for the same people over and over and over again. We came up with a simple way for everyone to vote if they wanted to but it was tossed aside.

Major decisions should have set date and open discussion for those who are and are not computer/internet friendly.

If they realy want have a poll for al of the members from the MCA,why not send a form for voting to all of us.
Include this in the Mustang Times to keep the cost low,and ask for us to send it back with our vote.
Thats a chance for the MCA board to now wath the members think of the idea for 2 shows at the same weekend.

I agree, a simple post card could suffice...

Those who care enough would spend the $.44 to send it back. There are good points to both sides but can you imagine what the economic jackpot would be anywhere this celebration would be?? The event in Steamboat springs with 400+ Mustangs brings $4 Million to the community for the 4 day event.

An historic, once in a lifetime event should not be two seperate events - IT NEEDS TO BE ONE EVENT, IN ONE PLACE, WHERE EVERYONE WHO CAN COMES TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE!

You are correct there are only 1280 actual registered user of this site. So pollsters would say this is a representative sample of the total population of MCA member who have actual logged into the site. 8 to 10%

Include this in the Mustang Times to keep the cost low,and ask for us to send it back with our vote.

There is no need for a poll! There are two contracted show sites, Vegas and Charlotte. End of discussion. The date and sites are finalized. Do you whiners have any idea what it takes to secure two venues like Vegas and Charlotte? Not likely those contracts will be broken. Why not start discussions of special events or displays that would be cool to have at each venue? I would like to see a memorabilia event at the host hotels one evening like SAAC used to do at National conventions. Or a Ford Mustang Promo Model display. A special display of unrestored Mustangs. So many possibilities. Why waste time arguing over something we can't change?

Easy now folks. There have been strong opinions posted by several on this thread but let's keep it civil. Also your best bet to influence change or at least get up to date details would be to contact the show committee chair directly. Just a thought.
