Do you know for a fact that contracts have been signed and cannot be broken or are you just venting? I ask because based on the results of this poll so far the event in Vegas is going to be a financial train wreck for the local club that put pen to paper. I believe even if the BOD is ignoring comments and poll result posted here you can bet the vendors and celebrities are watching it. And when or if a listing by location is released you will see all the vendors and VIPs are going east to include Shelbys trailers.

Hey everyone! I know it is a bit early and a lot of things need to be thought out regarding the 50th in NC and NV, but it is never TOO early to think ahead and come up with an idea or two on having all you great Mustang fans stopping in Asheville NC prior to the final convoy stage on the way to Charlotte.
Depending on what day would be the best day for the pony drive arriving in Charlotte, how about stopping off in Asheville, NC for a night of festivities, dinner and rest before we convoy out to Charlotte.
Remember, this is just a preliminary thought, but we here at the Blue Ridge Mustang Club of Asheville would love to host a few hundred Mustangs one or two nights before heading out to Charlotte.
April is a 'slow' time of year in Asheville and rooms rates will be very affordable and Asheville would love to have the economic boost during that time of the year.
We have already planted the 'seed' with the Chamber of Commerce and some of the larger hotels in the the area and needless to say, the reaction was most POSITIVE. We can even obtain special rates for a visit to the Biltmore Estate for those who wish to visit while in town.
As many of you know by now, the Blue Ridge Mustang Club of Asheville is hosting a 2013 national show during the 4th of July weekend at the Crowne Plaza Golf & Tennis Resort (250 acre resort one mile from downtown) and they have an expo center that can handle 3000 people for a dinner and entertainment! With over 300 rooms, they can be the 'host' hotel for the east coast pony drive. We also have a fantastic relationship with local law enforcement who would more than likely would provide a seriously organized police escort onto interstate 40 towards Charlotte (if any of you have attended one of our annual pony runs you have experienced how great law enforcement is by stopping traffic wherever we need).
Again, this is just a thought as one of the best routes is right through Asheville. Spend the night (or the weekend and meet up with the pony drive and our club), relax, have dinner, visit the Biltmore and then onto Charlotte.
Keep this in mind and as we get closer to more specifics on the routes of the pony drive and other convoys, we will then begin a serious push to have Asheville as the last leg of the pony drive to the 50th in Charlotte!
Under normal driving conditions we are just about 2 hours from Charlotte. With a few hundred Mustangs it will take a bit longer but we can do it!!!
Thanks to your info about Asheville, I called today and booked our room for July 4-7, 2013 at the host hotel. Mustang rate was $129
My Mustang told me that she doesn't care where the party is! Maybe we can have a live stream, so we can see what's happening at both. I will attend in Charlotte but it would be fun to see what's going on out west.

Pony Drive to the 50th
If the current plans are kept, we are looking at doing a trip in conjunction with the events. The Pony Drive will start at Jacksonville, FL ( there's a port there for the Euros to bring in their cars like they did for the 1989 Pony Drive), Apr 4, head to Pensacola, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houston, Dallas and an event in Mustang, OK. For those that want to go to Las vegas, they can head west from there. We will head east to Little Rock, Nashville, Knoxville, Asheville, and then to Charlotte. We will coordinate with clubs at all the stops for events along the way, as well as sightseeing as we go. It's 1200 miles from LA or Jax to Mustang. It's 1000 miles from Mustang to either Las Vegas or Charlotte. If there is a group from the west, they will also meet in Mustang and everyone can decide which way to go from there, but it'll be fun getting to the shows, either way. Stay tuned for future developments.
This is what I posted awhile ago and I have been contacting clubs along all routes to se what they can do while the group is in town. All of the Pony Drives will not be just a 400 mile run from place-to-place, but a trip that includes sightseeing, local parties, meeting other clubs, and enjoying the trip, rather than a mad dash. Asith a major milestone event, these trips will be planned accordingly and we hope everyone going to either show will enjoy the trip there as much as being at the shows.
Don't forget to call Asheville as we are the final leg on the way to Charlotte and with enough hotel rooms, the Biltmore, the Blue Ridge Parkway and a host hotel just waiting to start booking Mustangers, we are ready to host a party for everyone joining up with the pony trail!

Well hey David, Asheville is awaiting your call! We have the hotels, the expo center, the Biltmore, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the mountains. AND, we are the last MCA club before you get to Charlotte. Make Asheville the final leg of the trip for a stopover and we will host a GREAT party once again!
