I would greatly appreciate your reading MY posts and point out to me anywhere i have TRASHED your club or show. I have asked a question about the 50% increase in entry fee and also made sugestions on how to get your net cost of the event down. I have never said ANYTHING derogatory about you/your club or the event!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    You specfically state the OP!
I have NO discontent with the MCA.
I have simply questioned the need to raise the entry fee 50%.
I have asked if there is something about this event or venue that I have overlooked!
All legit questions and not TRASHING YOUR CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You NEED to read MY posts if you are going to call me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come to the Grand National - I'll be there!!!!!!!!!!
I know and understand the hard work it takes to put on an event way MORE than you will and I HAVE NOT TRASHED YOUR CLUB OR EVENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHOW ME WHERE I HAVE "BAD MOUTHED" YOUR CLUB?EVENT!

$75 with NO early or MCA member discount?? Really guys?
I read them all. Going back to the start, this alone was enough. After the work we've put in and we're still months away, this sickens me. To the person who comes here to find info on Ponies in the Park and finds this thread, how do you think that looks.

But you keep doing what you want. I mean, you know way MORE than me.

    Offer still stands.

Edit: This will be my last post in this thread. I can tell you have a differing opinion to how your posts here are perceived. I can understand why you would as I have been on that side of an issue many times and know how it looks from there. I take it personal when you make a thread like this. If you were simplying asking a question, you could have used the contact information on PoniesinthePark.com, which comes to my inbox, like the other 40 or so people who have done that so far. But you didn't. You chose to start a thread that is negative towards a show that I have invested so much in.

Edit 2: I'll say last post regarding this issue then....

Wow - You call that "bad mouthing" and "trashing"?
You don't address the issue of is there something about the event/venue that I'm missing. That question is sincere in that if there is something I'm overlooking then that could explain the increase.
You don't address the issue that I offered a possible way to help offset cost by hiring someone on commission to sell more vendor space/sponsorships.
All you do is say I'm trashing/bad mouthing your event/club and then say "This will be my last post in this thread".
    Okie, Dokie.
It's a 50% increase and all I did was ask why and offer possible help.
My apologies for not asking my questions the way you wanted me to.
    Regards, Jimmy Austin

Again I ask why should a non MCA member recieve the same benefits of a MCA member? I can't get an answer to this question. Could it be there is no logical answer for my question?

We are flying at 30,000 feet and do see the horizon. If a club doen't change with the times and then the times pass us by. Then the club sinks!

About the ground war over egos. Sir, you are so wrong words can't describe how wrong you are.

There are many Directors who travel the country at our own expense to promote the MCA or judge members cars. Many of us spend thousands of dollars a year to make MCA a stronger MCA. The numbers prove our success that, just like our travel reciepts . Where do our egos fit?????

One thing we do agree on. Your run for a BOD seat is NOT the answer.

If you recall the recent poll taken regarding two 50th events. The majority was in favor of two shows. The membership spoke.

As for Pres Streve Prewitt, he values everyones opinion. He is most respectfull to all members. Even those that oppose him. If you feel the way you spoke above then the problem is on your end.

Everyone's opinion is considered and used in the final discussion to make the outcome of all issues.

You know the caryou said that can't be worth much. Even though it is 1 of 50. That is your opinion and I respect your opinion. I used myself as an example only.

How many members have been effected by this? I'm a MCA member because I want to be and want to see the MCA grow.

Personal agends are not the reason we promote the MCA. It's statements like yours the BOD can't go to the membership for an opinion. It is biased from the beginning.

Imagine if the BOD did ask for opinions of the membership and 5,000 members replied. Progress would be halted while everyones opinion was sorted!

If you feel I am the problem and not the soultion I respect your feelings.

As membership chair I am responsible to grow the membership. And growing the membership I am doing!

Thie requirement to be a MCA member to have your car judged is another venue to grow the membership. If you have suggestions I/we will gladly work to institue them.

    Respectfully
Wow George...I'm glad you agree that me being on the board is not the answer. That's one way to increase membership....tell people who disagree with you that they're not welcome. Your funny.

I disagree that this is not about ego. I think yours is heavily involved, and mine is now a little involved because of your arrogance. You could learn a little from Steve Prewitt yourself. I may not like his answers but I think he is doing his best to handle the situation.

I have served on several trade association boards and I can say that the most difficult obstacal is always getting people to see beyond their own agenda (and to park their egos). The only thing I can say, is that when this many people are upset with an elected boards decision, then that board needs to re-evaluate its postion and consider the voice of its members. I'm not saying that the board should change its decision, only study it in light of the information and opinions presented. George, park your ego and consider these opposing opinions for a moment, maybe, just maybe you'll see it from someone else's point of view.

If the MCA had any financial skin in the game with regards to the risk of putting on a National or Grand National, instead of putting this on the regional clubs, I think the attitudes would change. I know you have lots of experience with hosting these shows and that your club has the formula down for success, but other clubs do not. Frankly we're talking about car shows and if I'm having my car judged, I want it judged along side the best cars whether or not the owner is a member of MCA. I've said this before...the ONLY benefit I get from MCA is a magazine and the only reason I remain a member is becaused its required for me to be a member to sit on the board of our local club.

Mr Valeri, you are really close to having one more vacant memebrship to sell.

One of the main reasons for the difference in cost is that the City of Mustang is the major sponsor of that show and they provide the Community Center and Park free of charge. That show has been, and always will be, on the low end of costs for that reason alone. The Beaumont club does not have that benefit, and, in addition, there will be an indoor parking area. Mustang is an all-outdoors show.

Not every host club has the option of a free parking area for the show. For example, as mentioned earlier, the Florida Grand National will be an expensive show due to the parking charges from the venue.

Thanks Laurie for a very reasonable answer to the difference in venue question.

Laurie- I feel you made the most reasonable, logical and simple answer on this entire thread.

It has been brought up by others not to compare venues but that is exactly what they themselves are trying to do! By that same logic Rhode Island is 10% more than other nationals (when in all reality that 10% is FIVE dollars). Venues are different and prices are varied due primarily to that. Also let's not forget the fact of price increases on everything from insurance to electricity for the events. Prices go up people...

I keep coming back to the members who will spend thousands of dollars in fuel, hotels and food for an event but balk at a 25 dollar price increase. Amazing! Perhaps if the 25 dollar increase is a back breaker it's time to leave the hobby.

It is such a shame that a select few wish to take a dump on the board, event staff or whomever they feel like over a twenty five dollar fee increase.
