Best Donor Mustang for a kit car Cobra build

Hey guys, I am new so I hope that there is not already a thread on this, but I am interested in building a Kit Cobra from Factory 5 Racing, and am wondering what would be the best donor Mustang to use for the project that would deliver great power, reliability and upgadeablility down the line. They say that anything from 1987-2004 would work. Which years and models are your favorites? I will basically be using the rear end, transmission and engine. I will be building it as a manual transmission and hope to be in the 300- 400hp range. I am also trying to keep the cost down as much as possible, so an older model might have an advantage. Thanks for any input you might have

I have built a few Factory Fives, the 85 ( Carbed) is a good choice along with the 89-93, If you want the FI. The rear ends can be built up along with a Tremec Trans to handle the power. The intakes on the 94/95 can be an issue depending on what your looking for...
