No Judging at 50th Anniversary Celebration

As to Judging, there is now way to do the same thing as the 45th - this event will be huge, and the logistics of setting up any kind of judging (particularly at 2 differant locations) would require more judges than available.

I understand the concern about promoting the MCA in a way that encourages non-members to join, but at the same time realize that those who are members should get the extra benefits of being a member. I am currently working on my grille medallion, and have 17 of the required 20 points. However, one of my most prized came at the 45th Celebration. I was diligent enough to get myself entered in the 250 judged cars group, and elated at receiving a Class Winner plaque. This did not allow me any points toward my medallion, but it was a great honor. Being able to participate at that level was a benefit of being a member. Seeing that by a non-member should do more to encourage membership than discourage it. The award plaques given out to all who participated at the 45th were very nice, and if the awards given at the 50th are anything close, even non-members should be happy. I am assuming the upgraded awards to 2012 and 2013 winners will be given at registration/check-in just like the others, and not in a ceremony. That keeps it from appearing as a taunt, and will only be noticed by sharing from those members who received one. It would then be your responsibility to use that as an opportunity to promote membership in the MCA.

Geez, I just love it when someone stomps their feet, rattles their cage and takes their ball home and proudly announces that they will not attend ANY MCA 50th celebrations and will only go to the Ford celebration. I suppose he will go to the Ford event because it's in his home state and he probably does not want to drive his Mustang so far to a celebration hosted by the MCA. Seems he must not be able to get any trophies for his Mustang at national shows thus his 'real' reason for not attending an MCA 50th celebration. Stop the bickering and try to remember what this event by the MCA is all about! It's about being with thousands and thousands of Mustangs and the owners of those Mustangs. It's about making new friends, and experiencing a true 'once in a lifetime' event.
Like one post said, when members of the MCA who get the special trophy, it will give them the opportunity to promote the MCA to non members. Sure the MCA is far from perfect and there are things to be fixed over time, but if people would stop complaining about so many things and just go to one of the MCA 50th events, you may surprise yourself and actually enjoy the show! I'm going to attend the 50th in Charlotte and join in the pony drive and do as much as I can at the celebration because I know that I won't be around for the 75th (much less the 100th!). Heck, I may not be around for the 55th, but at least I will be able to say that I WAS at the 50th and got to see all those beautiful Mustangs and all the great people that own them. Lighten up, and bring your ball back so we all can play!

Just my 0.02 worth, but I'm not interested in watching someone with a perfectly restored "concours correct" down to the last nut and bolt 1964+1/2 "trailer queen" receive another trophy to display at the next car show he attends. I honestly couldn't care less how many trophies get handed out, or who wins them!

It's the story of the Mustang itself, its history, and all the people who love, own, and drive them that interests me! Each car has a story behind it, and there are thousands to tell. For once, can't we do away with all the "competition" and just CELEBRATE and enjoy ALL the cars for what they are... instead of trying to decide whose car is the finest?

I see no reason why this would be a problem so long as they are displayed in the trunk or interior of the car.

The only word of caution is that consider there will be thousands of spectators on hand and it would be smart to err on the side of safeguarding your valuables. It would be a shame for someone to walk away with original paperwork, awards or whatever. As silly as it sounds, it happens.

Everyone who has a car registered at and attends one of the 50th Shows will receive a participant award just like they did at the 45th in 2009. If you attended/attend a 2012 or 2013 MCA National show and win an award there, the participant award you get at the 50th will reflect the highest award level you won at the 2012/2013 National Show you attended. We are realistically expecting several thousand cars at each event. Judging them all is logistically impossible. Therefore if you participate, you will recieve and award.
