I have traded my 96 mystic on a 04 saleen s281 my old class for the mystic was unrestored. I know the s281 is not old enough for this class. will I be in the specialty class, and how do they judge this class ie gold, silver, bronze ? Also when the s281 is older can I show it in unrestored in hopes of earning my grill medallion. THANKS,
Until the 2014 show season, you can show your 04 Saleen in Specialty, occasional driven, daily driven (if driven daily) or modified (if modified beyond Ford and Saleen). Specialty and Occasional Driven are judged the same (fit, finish, and cleanliness). Awards are 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Daily driven is not judged underhood and modified points are awarded for the complexity, originality and workmanship of modifications.
Beginning 2014 you along with the above you could also enter unrestored class.
1. "Modified Mustangs are those that have been changed from Ford factory original".
The rules make no mention of Roush, Saleen etcetera.
It would seem that all Mustangs from Roush, Saleen and all the others belong in the modified class.
Are they considered Dealers installing non-Ford parts? See item # 4.
It would seem that specialty cars should be a modified class of sorts to start with. So adding more 3rd party mods should be allowed.
Since I could end up in modified class because of a license plate ring or valve stem cover are my Roush, Saleen goodies modified items that can be listed for points?

Think about it this way. Anyone can walk into a Ford dealership and purchase a Shelby, Roush or Saleen. A Modified Mustangs represents one person's vision of what they want in their own Mustang not a mass marketed (even if in limited numbers) vehicle for profit by a specialty manufacturer.
