    Future Mustangs

This is probably more of an ask FORD question but FORD listens to MCA so how would I get this question to the Mustang people at FORD?

We have the all new 5.0 GT back, even the Boss 302 is back, since 2007 we've had the Shelby Mustangs and also the Roush Mustangs, but I am sure I am not the only one who would agree with me on this that there are thousands of us who would prefer to see the Mach 1 name back on this new style Mustang so is it ever going to happen?

I'm sure it will happen again but my guess would be not until awhile. The Mach 1 has only been gone for 7 model years which isn't long. I'm thinking from 2012-2014 they will produce the Boss 302. Then in 2015 we may see a new re-design which will mean no "special vehicles". Then they will probably bring the Bullitt back for 2016-2017 or the California Special (Would be awesome if they would choose the Twister Special or High Country Special though) for 2016-2018. Then after this it will be time to bring the Mach 1 back for a 2-3 model year run IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see another Mach 1 sooner (this is one of my favorite's), however I just don't see it happening any time soon.

Kyle, not to call you out or anything, but I was reading *somewhere* when I should have been working and ford is working on "updating" the mustang styling for the 2014 stang.

No worries, my entire post was complete speculation and what I think. None of it was fact based but most was going off past history. I stated in 2015 we MAY see a redesign. I figured it would be either 2014 or 2015. 2014 just seemed a little early plus the 45th anniversary of the Mustang was in 2009 and then in 2010 we got a re-design. Therefore I figured they would stay on that same path (2014 will be the 50th anniversary and I figured 2015 we may get a redesign). Again, all just my own little theories. Thanks for the articles though!!!

Also, I would guess their "updates" will be similar to what the 99 Mustang was to the 98. Not so much a re-design but styling updates like you stated.

I am all for an update because they messed up on the nose and taillights on the 2010 model. The 2005-08 was a great seller but not so much for 2009 as people knew the 10 was getting updated but what FORD did was terrible. Squishing the nose was a bad idea from the beginning and it does NOT look more meaner it looks squished! Taillights I got use to even though nothing was wrong with previous model but FORD has a great thing with the current retro Mustang so I wouldn't be messing with it too much. Any updates to the next few model years has nothing to do with offering a Mach 1 version. The Bullitt for what 07/08 was a terrible seller so don't expect to see that anytime soon. The GT/CS is a cosmetic appearance package only. FORD can easily do a Mach 1 as it has nothing to do with the Boss 302 or any other limited Mustang. You got the base GT and the Shelby GT500 as the top model and now the Boss 302 is in between but depending on sales for the Boss will determine how long they keep it around. A Mach 1 which is also my favorite would be the mid level performance Mustang and personally I'd offer the Mach 1 every model year. You look a little young but if you know your Mustang history FORD should be very careful as it was the Boss 302 and Mach 1 that killed off the Shelby Mustang and as a current Shelby owner I do not history to repeat itself.

2 months my 1973 Mach 1 restoration should be finished... We've owned it since new as it was my Dad's daily driver then he sold it to my older brother when he was in High School and he killed it meaning ran the motor until it died and it has been stored since 1984. Since its just a 351C 2v Mach 1 with standard interior I decided to half restomod it and half original so it will look like a 73 Mach 1 with original Med. Green Metallic paint, but the goodies will be 17" wheels, Global-West susp., 351C 2v built to drive anywhere, and upgraded int. seats, console, radio, and cannot wait. Considering I grew up in this car its going to be the best X-Mas present this year. Just wish my Mom was still here to see it!

Sure they could do this, but again I do not think they will. How many times from 1974-Present have you seen FORD (Not counting Shelby, SVT, Roush, Saleen, etc.) offer 2 special edition performance (Not counting California Special, MCA Edition, etc. since these are appearance packages.) vehicles in the same model year? It just doesn't make sense to have two "mid level performacne Mustangs" in one model year competing against one another.
