What is MCA doing for young mustang owners and or future youth mustang fans?

There was a little bit of discussion about some sort of involvement for young mustang owners and or mustang fans. Has there been anymore follow up with this topic. The youth is what will keep this hobby going strong on into the future. I would like to see MCA have some kind of program and promotional items on this topic to put out to the regional clubs. Then have the regional clubs also promote and encourage this program....

I would also like to see some kind of promotional program in order to get more young mustang owners and fans involved in the national mustang community. That is one of the reasons I have yet to join my regional club. A lot of the members tend to be in the older crowd. I don't mind that for the most part, but it would be nice to see more young people that I can relate with. It's hard enough being a girl. lol.

I believe "this forum" is a good start in attracting involvement in younger owners.
MCA sure got out of the dark ages when our officials launched this site!!!
You just watch us grow...it's comming!!!
I know a lot of younger owners who plan events on "local" Mustang Forums so their forum knowledge is already there.
Advertising MCA information on these Forums, ie United Stangs, VMRers, well, you get the idea.... could attract younger owners to our MCA forum.
A few forum upgrades like a chat box and a generation specific tech section may make the site more appealing.
The regional clubs have to step it up too.
Promoting "Cruise-Nights"or "Car Shows" at places like Dave and Busters, Red Robins, Colleges or High Schools, etc. would be a good place to give away promotional items.
Getting a promotional item and getting praise for bringing your Mustang to a cruise-in would inspire anyone to look into joining the Mustang Club of America.
I truely believe the guys and gals working to make MCA successful are on the right track ...Thanks for all your hard work!

I agree with everyone. The MCA needs to do more to get the younger individuals involved. This website is a great start. This will allow the younger generations to participate more and feel welcomed. Ford Motor company also has a great tool that they have implemented in the vehicle line-up, with the MCA edition Mustang. I am the youngest Board of Directors of the MCA and i can tell you that my understanding was that you needed to have a concourse correct car to be part of the club. That is not the case. Being the youngest director, I have been charged with the direction of getting younger members to join the MCA. Without going into too much detail, I can let you know that we are taking steps to get the younger individuals involved. I will be leading the way in 2011 to bring the Youth Committee back to life and a program will be implemented to attract younger members. The program that I have designed will be presented to the Board at our Janaury Meeting. After that meeting I hope to have some information available as a sneak peak for the general membership. There will be an article in the Mustang Times after the January Meeting letting everyone know what will be coming. From the feedback that I have gotten from several board members, we are heading in the right direction with the youth program.

Sorry for not having too much detail for everyone, but the program is still in the working stages and has not been finalized. Trust me as soon as it is finished and the board agrees to move forward with it, the general membership, regional clubs and the young mustang lovers of the world will know what is going to be available to them.

Any suggestions, comments or feedback is highly encouraged. If there is something that you think will be a benefit to getting younger memebrs, please let me know.

How about getting ford to put a little 1/2 size print out for MCA with each new/used mustang. Wouldn't have to be anything too crazy, maybe throw in some kind of incentive... like 10% off the MCA Store Merchandise or something.

Thank you Leilany for getting involved in this thread! Our club has two members who are still in high school. We may have another high schooler joining that we met at a cruise night. They are all very excited but dont know much about how clubs work.... I always encourage them to get involved. One of the members has had to speak at a meeting and he thanked me for that afterwards, I asked why and he told me it helped him with his self confidence. It is hard to get up and speak to a crowd when you dont know all of them.
Ambenz I agree we as regional clubs do need to get involved with the younger members of our club. I think it can go beyond that though what about the members childeren? I would like to see MCA come up with some type of broucher and program for the youth, it can be driver safety, learning the mechanics of the mustang, and the history of the mustang. Maybe even make some type of step program and once they finish award them with something.... There is alot that can be done. In the back of the Mustang times there is a advertisment for Take a kid to a car show. Why not try to team up with them and see how MCA can get its own program going?
I just want to make sure the regional clubs and MCA are doing their part to ensure the hobby stays alive for our future generations. This is a great FAMILY hobby and I hope no one loses sight of that...

Stayed tuned for developments surrounding the MCA's Mustang Youth Program being spearheaded by Chris Hall. Chris is designing a fantastic program that has something for everybody. Look for announcements on the web site as they are available.

I was at the meeting in January and got to here Chris Hall's plan outline. Very impressed and it was a hilight of the meeting from my end. Now we need to get the information out and make things happen. I don't know haw the MCA is going to roll this out but if you are interested I would volunteer and make contact with Chris. He is a great and welcome addition to the MCA Board. Also since you are in TX it may you may be interested in going to the next MCA board meeting. I will most likely be there as well.
