66 GT Exhaust
As stated in the judging rules; "Factory dual exhaust is one piece from intermediate pipes all the way to the exhaust tip". "Should be welded on either side of mufflers". After reading this I'm a bit confused. My interpertation of this would mean that I would need to weld the intermediate pipes to the H pipe, in the front of the mufflers, also where the rear of the mufflers attach to the outlet pipes, and finally where the outlet pipes attach to the trumpet exhaust. If this is the case I would not need any clamps other than where the hangars are located at the back of the mufflers and the clamps that hold the outlet pipes to the rear frame rails. Please help me understand this since I'm wanting to purchase and install a new exhaust system on my factory 66 GT coupe.
Currently the only clamps I have on the existing exhaust system is at the hanger that attaches through the back of the floor pan, the clamps that hold the outlet pipes to the rear frame rails, and the horseshow clamps that attach the trumpet exhaust to the outlet pipes.
I would appreciate any help to ensure I install the new exhast system correctly. Thank you.
