    69 mustang staggered rear shocks

I have a 69 mustang convertible with a big block. The rear shocks a staggered, one mounted in front of the axel one mounted in the rear. My car has two shock mounts on the body behind the rear seat. however, on the drivers side the shock was mounted behind the axel at the front of the trunk. The mount for this shock looks like an afterthought. Bracing for it is added to the trunk area and also in the axel tunnel under the car. This does not look factory as the front mount for it, behind the seat is there. Can anyone tell me which is correct. thanks,Jeff

Without looking at what you have it's difficult to tewll if what you have has been altered, added or factory.

    A few points to consider.

If your car was originally a 428 with a 4 speed we would expect to find staggered rear shocks on your car.

Originally the hole (for the staggered shocks through the floor pan) was not a nice pretty stamped hole but instead often jagged - slightly homemade look -

I'm guessing that is what your seeing.

Here are some pictures of other cars for you to compare

    Hope this helps
