Wow! That was a battle! Obviously you applied too much torque when you tightened that old oil filter. Did you remember to apply a little film of oil to the rubber gasket on the filter before installing it?
Never in my life have I ever had such a problem changing my oil! This has been the second oil change since I built the motor about a year ago this month. The first was after the 500 miles and this one was at 4032. I wanted to change it sooner but I'm never home and I'm leave again for 10 months in a few days. It took me an hour, a hammer, and a strait screw driver to get it off. I didn't have the socket style wrench and I tried to use a leather belt but it broke.

there are several things to remember when installing a new filter. first is to fill the filter as full as possible with fresh oil. second is to coat the gasket with a thin film of oil. third is screw it on hand tight till it makes contact then give it 3/4 turn more by hand. this should prevent that problem in the future.

We changed the oil on the 85 vert, and "thought" we got the filter on tight, started the car up, and it shot the filter off and puked about a quart of oil in the shop. Thankfully, we killed it quick, but the look on my son-in-law's face was priceless.

Oh yeah, the shop floor looked like it had been flooded. Amazing how big of a mess, a little oil can make.

I've done at least a hundred oil changes before so it's not a new thing for me!! It's been a year since the last oil change and I KNOW BETTER than to tighten to much. I've just never had such a problem before! Two good hings came from this. 1. I got it off! 2. I didn't brake anything! A $15,000 motor, the last thing I want to do is brake something else!
Well, I dont know if this will easy the pain, but I have one: tried the screw driver trick, it doesnt work to well, by the pictures you know that, I have tried the belt trick, it worked but I squeezed it so hard it collapsed and with all that body torque, I thought I was going to pop a shoe off for kinder words! But I have even a better one, I was trying to get two truck ready for up coming work. Back and forth I go, replace plugs, filters, oils etc. Limited on, thinking of other things I needed to do and (maintenance on vehicles) was second nature. Well, make shifting a funnel to allow me to pour a four quart jug of oil in one vehicle, while I pulled the plug on the other. While laying on my back, pulling the plug I notice a huge puddle of oil by my head. What the HE--double hockey sticks. I forgot to put the plug in the other truck. What an idiot, trying to do to much and taking things for granted and what I thought was second nature turned out to be a long day of clean up! Hope this easier your pain!
I noticed when I did my first oil change, the factory had it on sooo tight, I had to use the "poke a screwdriver" trick to get it off.
When changing my wifes for the first time, got it off okay, but forgot to check that the gasket was on the old filter and did the double gasket deboucle...luckly I stopped the engine before a quart was drained.
No matter how many times you do it, sometimes you just goof!
